Rally Day: The Farmers Roll In Joining Over 100,000

From the Capitol Times 3/12

The numbers have mattered.

The tens.

The hundreds.

The thousands.

The hundreds of thousands.

Wisconsinites from every background, every religion, every political persuasion and every job have filled the Capitol Square for the past month.

Their message has been clear and unequivocal. They oppose Scott Walker’s assault on working families. They oppose the lawless actions of legislative leaders who are more determined to advance the governor’s political agenda than to respect their colleagues or to serve the interests of the whole state.

This has been an exhilarating, frustrating, depressing and empowering time.

Emotions have soared and collapsed.

But we are a resilient people. Nothing Scott Walker does to us will be as long-lasting or meaningful as what we do for the state when we remove him — and those who have supported him — from office.

Our resilience is rooted in our traditions. We learned to work hard in factories and on farms.

Many of us can trace our roots to a homestead on a country road. This is and will always be America’s Dairyland.

The farmers who rolled in on their tractors from across the state this morning completed the circle of this movement.

Wisconsin workers and farmers are standing together, speaking in one voice.

And that voice declares: When you push our state in the wrong direction Scott Walker, we will push back!

  1. At least 150,000 at the rally today but I have not heard any formal estimates. Farmers were wonderful with tractors pulling everything from crap loaders to caskets.

The fab 14 received a rousing welcome as they should. Everyone energized for the recalls. One district has 10,000 signatures of the 15,000 needed. Another went up to the door of the current Republican senator and surprizingly got his wife to sign. It appears he is shacked up with his lover in Madison and wife was irritated.

There are a thousand stories in the Naked City…..
